ISCAS aims at addressing important and hot topics in Computer Aided Surgery. If you are interested in creating a new ISCAS working group, please send your proposal to pierre.jannin@univ-rennes1.fr
The goal of the ISCAS open science working group is to develop concepts and tools for sharing data and software in the computer assisted interventions community. The availability of public data sets shall enable benchmarking and comparative validation of algorithms as well as the creation of large multi-center data sets for training and testing machine learning algorithms. Open-source platforms shall further create synergistic effects and enable cross-institutional collaboration between different research labs.
Initiatives of the open science group include
1. Open data website: The website www.open-CAS.de was established as a platform for making data sets related to CAI publically available
2. Call for data: In the scope of the conference Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention (MICCAI) 2015 under the endorsement by ISCAS, a “call for data” was released in the context of endoscopic image processing. The strong response resulted in the organization of the endoscopic vision challenge 2015 (http://grand-challenge.org/site/endovis/endoscopic_vision_challenge/)
